7 Great Upcoming Events for Families & Children with Autism in Denver

For children with autism, getting out and enjoying the same activities as kids who aren’t on the spectrum can be challenging. There are so many stimuli to worry about and it’s easy for them to become overwhelmed quickly. We’re lucky to have many events specifically geared for kids on the spectrum right here in Denver. Here are a few great events to check out.

Special Time Just for You at Get Air Trampoline Park

From 8AM to 10AM every Saturday morning, the Get Air Trampoline Park in Longmont offers sensory-friendly jump sessions for kids with special needs. They play music at low volumes and feature a calm and uncrowded atmosphere for you and your family.

Low-Sensory Mornings at the Denver Aquarium

Every second Sunday of the month, the Denver Aquarium opens at 8:30AM with minimal ambient noise to allow for a peaceful experience for children with autism. The aquarium opens for regular operations at 9:45AM.

Discovery Zone at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science

Sunday December 1, 2019 from 7AM to 9AM, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science opens the Discovery Zone to children with autism and special needs. They limit attendance to maintain a calm atmosphere and limit the ambient noise. Reservations are required, but the event is free.

Low-Sensory Mornings at the Children’s Museum of Denver

Every other month, the Children’s Museum of Denver offers low-sensory mornings on Saturdays with adjusted lighting and low ambient noise. Reservations are required and you’ll need to email SaraM@cmdenver.org or call (303) 561-0108 to find out the next date and reserve your spot.

Sensory Sensitive Mornings at Littleton’s Chuck E. Cheese

On the first Sunday of every month, Chuck E. Cheese locations open for children with autism. The full array of games, activities, and food options are available for purchase.

Sensory Friendly Colorado Symphony

On March 7 at Hampden Hall in Englewood, the Colorado Symphony offers a sensory-friendly concert where kids can move around, dance, or otherwise be themselves without worrying about disrupting others. Cost is $5 per person and all ages are welcome.

AMC Sensory Friendly Films

AMC Theatres in Denver offer sensory-friendly films on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Film selections change, but you can check out the current listings and showtimes here
