EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is used to treat the lingering effects of trauma. Some people suffer through trauma due to one experience and others suffer through trauma due to several experiences. The purpose of EMDR is to help individuals reprocess these traumatic experiences in a safe environment while helping to eliminate the debilitating and disturbing thoughts and memories associated with the trauma. This allows the individual to move past the trauma and enjoy life more fully and focus on the present and future rather than the past.
Adult, Adolescent, and Child Therapy
Psychotherapy can be helpful in learning to overcome obstacles, work through stress and anxiety, feel emotionally stronger and experience more joy. Our experienced clinicians use an integrated model with emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Play therapy is an effective treatment for children who have not yet developed the verbal skills needed to communicate their feelings and help them work through difficult experiences. Play therapy can also provide an environment for children to learn valuable social skills and appropriate behavior needed to interact with their peers. During play therapy, the child dictates the play tactics while the therapist helps guide the play in an effective and constructive manner providing therapeutic results.
Therapy can be beneficial for any family dynamic. Whether a mixed family, a family experiencing the devastating effects of divorce, a family coping with the significant mental health needs of one or more members, or a family experiencing the loss of a member, it’s never too late to learn how to be the supportive and loving family you want to be.
Marriage and Family Therapy
Marriage and family therapy can benefit several different types of relationships. Whether you are preparing for marriage or have been married for several years, Marriage and Family Therapy can provide you and your loved ones with the tools necessary to work through life’s most difficult challenges and to experience the deep joy that comes from a relationship built on trust and effective communication.
Consultations can benefit any parent. When raising children, parents face a number of challenges they are not prepared to handle. This does not make them a bad parent. Wanting to learn how to help themselves, their spouses, and their children cope through those challenges makes them a good parent. We can provide an environment where you can learn how to help your family navigate through some of life’s toughest challenges. Our experienced staff can help your family deal with anything from the diagnosis of a child to the tumultuous years of toddlerhood to adolescence, or to help you learn how to work better with your spouse as a team to provide the parental support your children need.
