Emerge seeks a part or full time psychometrist to assist two clinical psychologists (one psychology fellow and one psychology intern) with testing in a busy private practice in Denver, Colorado.

Emerge conducts neuropsychological and psychological testing for individuals aged 18 months to 65 years, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders. We work largely with children who have variety of developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders along with children who are neurotypcial and have significant psychological disturbances. We also contract to conduct evaluations of military veterans.

JOB DESCRIPTION

A psychometrist is responsible for the administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological tests under the supervision of a clinical psychologist or clinical neuropsychologist. A psychometrist will also make note of behavioral observations during the assessment that may be used by the psychologist to aid in test interpretation. This person is also responsible for collecting demographic information from patients, as well as various clerical or administrative duties such as: patient scheduling, billing and coding of procedures, and procurement of office and testing supplies.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities:

  1. Administer and score psychological testsAssist clinical psychologists in selection of test to be administered.  Trouble-shoot difficult testing situations and administer tests that are developmentally appropriate for the patient.
  2. Adapt the administration of test to the specific needs of each patient while staying within the standardized procedures set forth for each specific test.
  3. Score tests administered, including objective personality tests administered by psychologist.
  4. Keep psychologist informed of patient’s status.
  5. Write progress notes in the medical record.
  6. Assist with research projects and special groups.
  7. Attend training conferences offered by the department and/or outside organizations.
  8. Train new psychometrists and psychology practicum students in test administration and scoring.
  9. Acclimate new neuropsychology practicum students, interns, fellows, residents and research assistants to the psychometrist position and the collaborative relationship.
  10. Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged.
  11. Provide data for psychologists, which will contribute to the assessment of a patient’s needs and the organization’s ability to provide the appropriate level of care.
  12. Participate in improving organizational performance by recommending areas and approaches for improvement, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to departmental discussions.
  13. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and availability and security of information.
  14. Participate in establishing job requirements, setting goals, and performing all duties to the desired level of competency.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Psychometrists interested in a position with us should be comfortable with children, be willing to learn behavior modification techniques, and be willing to learn some information about the various disorders that we commonly diagnose and treat. It is helpful if the applicant has knowledge about working with individuals who have been traumatized and/or have traumatic brain injuries.

We prefer that applicants meet the criteria for a Certified Specialist in Psychometry. Applicants who have this certification are highly valued, but applicants without certification will be considered as well. The criteria for certification are:

  1. A Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of 3000 hours of testing, scoring and associated administrative experience earned under the supervision of licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist or equivalent
  2. A Masters or Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited college or university with documented course work in a related field and a minimum of 2000 hours of testing, scoring and associated administrative experience earned under the supervision of licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist or equivalent. A total of 2000 hours is equivalent to one-year of “full-time work experience.”

This position will be open until the right candidate is found. It is desirable for the position to begin as soon as possible. Salary and benefits are competitive, depending upon experience.
